"Community Benefit Night" is a growing tradition at Ashkenaz where musicians come together as a community to highlight influential artists and eras and raise money for the organization. Past events have focused on seminal years of music including 1972 and 1969 and on artists including Bob Dylan, George Harrison, John Lennon, Jerry Garcia and more.

The 2017 rendition of Community Benefit Night will focus on the music of the Summer or Love in 1967, which celebrates its 50 year anniversary. The night will have a specific focus on "The San Francisco Sound" with period specific music from the Grateful Dead, The Jefferson Airplane, Janis Joplin and Big Brother & the Holding Company, and other Bay Area legends. Performers will also present work that influenced that sound, and music of the larger musical context that informed the Bay Area scene at this historic moment in musical history.

Musicians offering their talents to raise money for Ashkenaz tonight include Jordan Feinstein, Mike and Amy Berry, Living Wake Band, Mike Meagher, Steven Younger, Maurice Tani, Scott Guberman and more....
