Join us on a storied journey to Greece, carried on the waves of folk music and tales! With music by Agapi Mou, and Greek myths brought to new life by storytellers Liz Nichols, Kiran Rana, and Ruth Halpern. 

Agapi Mou

Agapi Mou is a four-piece ensemble that plays Greek traditional music, with an emphasis on tradition -- no modern sound effects or drum machines, just violin, clarinet, hand drums, laouto, and voice. The name Agapi Mou means "my love" in Greek and describes the group's feeling for the music they play. Formed in 2009, the group performs in the San Francisco Bay Area at festivals, restaurants, dance venues, concert halls, and private parties.

Liz Nichols

Liz Nichols got lost in the Folklore & Mythology section of the public library at age ten and hasn't found her way out yet! She brings her teaching and cross-cultural background to storytelling for all ages. Liz is part of SF’s Asian Art Museum Storytellers group, and the former Director of Storytelling Programs at Stagebridge. She's also a Master Trainer in TimeSlips Creative Storytelling for people with memory loss.  www.liznichols.net.

Kiran Rana

Kiran Rana discovered storytelling at Stagebridge in Oakland, learning fundamentals from Kirk Waller. He has told at the Marsh in Berkeley, at Silk Road House, Lovelines, the Storytelling Association of California (SAC) and with Eth-Noh-Tec at the East-West Storyfest. He has a background in Sufism and mysticism and has a lot of fun telling Sufi stories and Krishna stories from India, slipping in the occasional porquoi and personal story. 

Ruth Halpern

Ruth Halpern has been telling stories from around the world for over 30 years. She also tells personal stories, and improvised stories made up on the spot. She has taught storytelling to everyone from kindergarteners to corporate board members. Her passion is finding stories that resonate on many levels, and bringing them to life by “telling the pictures.”
