In a rare performance, two Louisiana based musicians come together joined by a cooking local rhtym section for a night of world class Cajun music.
Blake Miller, grandson of well known accordion builder Larry Miller, has been surrounded by Cajun music and culture his entire life. Hailing from the small town of Iota Louisiana, Blake, a fluent french speaker and songwriter, managed to acquire a degree in Francophone studies from The University Of Louisiana at Lafayette, and in the mean time founded the popular young Cajun bands The Pine Leaf Boys and The Revelers and became a member of the premiere Louisiana roots band The Red Stick Ramblers. He has also served stints in just about every other Cajun/creole band of note including Balfa Toujours, Les Malfecteurs and Cedric Watson & Bijou Creole bringing his strong cultural identity and accomplished musicianship to the world.
Jimmy Breaux was the longtime accordionist in celebrated Cajun band BeauSoleil. He is in the fourth generation of his family to play Cajun music. In 1988 at the age of 21 Breaux joined Michael Doucet’s pioneering young Cajun band BeauSoleil not only helping to bring pride to their Cajun heritage but also popularizing their dance music rooted in tradition by playing it around the world over the next 25 years. In addition to being featured on BeauSoleil recordings Breaux has released solo albums that feature not only Doucet and other bandmates but other leaders of contemporary Louisiana Cajun music such as Steve Riley. Jimmy was also featured on Marry Chapin Carpenter's hit "Down at the Twist and Shout" performing in front of President George H.W. and Barbra Bush. With a combination of Cajun classics and original songs Breaux is carrying on and extending his family tradition.
