Ashkenaz is proud to present our bi-monthly Pan-Celtic Ceilidh dance series! The Ceilidh is a tradition of music, dance and storytelling in Scottish and Irish traditions. In Ashkenaz inclusive tradition, this Ceilidh will combine easy dances everyone can do in many traditions including English Ceilidh, English Country, Contra, Scottish and Irish Ceilidh. For this month's dance DJ, host, and caller Alan Kline will be joined by caller Linda Henderson, and live music from The Bruno Band, who are Jason Aldean on melodon & bass, Calvaleigh Rasmussen on accordion & drum, Alex Bernstein on whistle, Kevin Hughes on mandolin, bagpipe, & hurly gurdy, Nicole Sivel on recorder & whistles, Jay Doane on fiddle, and Michael Dewell on mandolin.
"One of the Bay Area’s hidden folk treasures, The Bruno Band are the core musicians for the Pipe & Bowl Morris Men, and the Newcastle Country Dancers. All the musicians are dancers, and most have been cavorting for over two decades . They are sure to put a spring in your step.”
