Watkins Glen Revisited: Music of The Band, The Dead and The Allman Brothers - 45th anniversary show!

Ashkenaz poster.jpg

Berkeley singer/guitarist Phil McGee leads a tribute to the music of the Band, the Allman Brothers & the Dead for the 45th anniversary of the Watkins Glen Summer Jam, with sets drawn from each band's actual performance at Watkins Glen. Come celebrate the unique and groundbreaking music each of these bands created from the deep soil of American musical traditions, music that remains fresh and inspiring 45 years on!

Phil McGee heads Bay Area acoustic rock trio Tonal Recall, hosts ongoing Dead open-mic nights at Ashkenaz, and has shared bills with Little Feat, Zero, George Porter, Merl Saunders, the Subdudes and many others in original and cover band projects. The Watkins Glen Revisited house band features Jim & Tom McManus (Promised Land), Lachlann Kane (Edge of The West, DB Walker), and drummers Clayton Call and Rich DiBenedetto.

Presented at Askenaz as show #4 in the Barry Wofsy Heart of Rock & Roll Series.
