Filmmaker Joe Baker screens his latest work "Peñas Blancas and the music from NUSAM"  chronicling the collaboration between local musicians and musicians Nicaragua in  support of the community of Peñas Blancas, and ArteSana Foundation with A Real PURPOSE organization. It is the third work Baker has premiered at Ashkenaz in a similar theme of connecting local musicians with cultures from around the world. In 2010 Beaker featured "The Africa Project" connecting musicians in West Africa, and in 2014 premiered "A Real Purpose" featuring collaborations with Jamaican and Haitian musicians. The night will open with a set by Garrin Benfield, a screening of the new film, followed by an Allstar Jam with "A Real Purpose Band" featuring many of the musicians who have collaborated on these projects over the years.
