“Life is short and then you die”.

Afraid of dying? Haven’t made your bucket list? Are you hesitant to discuss the specifics of your demise with family and friends? How can we talk to children about death? Have you completed Advanced Directives? Are you interested in a home funeral or green burial? Every human being dies. Dying is a “peak experience” and every human being deserves to live well until the very end. In the United States, we avoid speaking about death unless we are forced to. This workshop addresses all the above topics as well as the dying process and current standards of care. We will:

1) Demonstrate the importance of “Courageous Conversations”: How discussing end-of- life
preferences enhance family closeness and communication.

2) Address how technology has changed the options for the end of life.

3) Provide information and referrals for eco-friendly and/or home funerals, green burials and
creative ways for body disposition.

Information, values clarification and an opportunity to share fears, expectations and experiences will be provided.

Ann-Ellice Parker is a veteran activist in the movements for peace and social justice. She is a former health educator, and non-profit trainer. Her background includes women’s reproductive health, HIV education, prevention, harm reduction and policy. She is the owner of Seasons of Change, a company devoted to empowering families and advocating a holistic, humane approach to death and dying. Seasons offers bedside facilitation, home funerals, professional trainings and family consultations.
