Every day is party time as Ashkenaz favorite the Bug Family Band performs catchy original songs and updated kiddie classics, many from the most recent CD, “ABeeCD.” In addition to the band, today’s special attraction is the Beetlelady, the Bugs’ entomologist friend who will be bringing beautiful preserved bugs as well as real live friendly insects that kids can handle!
The group includes such hot songs as “Goin’ to the Pool (When You Get Out of School),” “Put My Helmet On,” and even Woody Guthrie’s “This Land Is Your Land,” done Bug Family style. The new songs are mixed in with past favorites and folk-rock sing-alongs. The Bug Family’s sound is characterized by rich vocal harmonies, interactive sing-alongs, and clever tunes that kids and their adults can all appreciate!
The Bug Family features three former kids and two current kids: singer-guitarist Joe Balestreri, keyboardist Phil Gorman (Joe and Phil are in rock band the Flux), and drummer Eric Schoen. The youth contingent is Anna B (she plays the glockenspiel and sings) and Easton, who sings, dances, freestyles, and generally goes crazy.
