Mexican-American descendent of indigenous Yaqui and Tepehuano heritage Martin Espino presents an interactive performance and cultural discussion on what El Dia De Los Muertos is, from ancient to present day times. Martin will honor all of our loved ones and the ancestors by performing uplifting and reverent music on copies of ancient instruments such as Gourd Water Drums, Rain Snakes, Clay Triple Flutes, Bamboo Wind Instruments, Jaguar Call, Conch Shell Trumpet, Huehueti Bass Drum, and Bamboo Log Drums. He sings songs and reads poems by 15th Century king of Texaco, Nezahualcoyotl in the classical Aztec native Mexica language Nahuati,
Most of this program will be interactive, with the audience being gently motivated to sing easy songs in indigenous languages like Nahuatl, maya, and Huichol as well as play exotic indigenous Mexican percussion from Martin's huge collection! Martin will perform a few solo pieces but the audience will be part of the honoring festivities as well in order to gain a more in-depth understanding.

Martin is one of the very first musicians in North America to utilize the instruments of the ancient Americas, especially those of ancient Mexico, frequently since the 1970s in both education and performance. He pioneered what he calls "Interactive Performance" were audiences are motivated by his electric personality to sing in various indigenous languages! He developed some of the very first performance/educational programs about "Day of the Dead" back in the 1980s.
